At a time when people are following every move of Bollywood actors online, it’s nice to see stars giving out some fitness inspiration. Kareena Kapoor Khan did just that today when she shared multiple pictures of herself performing a backbend called Chakrasana.

The health curve is rising
If you are new to this asana and wondering what it is, then this is for you. Yoga expert Janil Dholakia explains the asana in detail: “Chakrasana is one of the most powerful back-bending asanas. It is also an advanced technique and requires a lot of time for the body to warm up. For this, the shoulders and hip flexors need to be really open so that you can get a nice open curve in the body.”

He also shared information about this asana and its health benefits:

  • This asana works by creating a deep arch in the back and it stretches your entire front body. It helps to correct your posture, stretch your lungs and your heart.
  • Chakrasana is also very energizing and improves your mood. You really feel very energetic after doing it.
  • This asana improves flexibility and also helps in strengthening the spine.
  • Everyone can try this. If people cannot do it themselves, they can use some yoga equipment like a yoga wheel or someone can help them perform this asana using a yoga belt.
  • People can also try a half version of this on the wall, which will still provide benefits.
  • While doing this asana, make sure you are breathing nice and slow, as when you do a backbend you are going against the normal nature of daily activities (where we tend to bend forward, like lifting something or bending forward while working on a laptop), thus it may not come naturally to most people and may feel challenging.
  • As said, it helps to align the structural and skeletal system well and really makes for a powerful posture for the morning!
