There are many schools across the country that are taking active initiatives to provide better education to their students. According to reports, government secondary schools in Kannauj have taken the initiative to set up a special career hub in schools to guide students in choosing the right career for them. This facility will be set up in a total of 19 government secondary schools in the district. Each school will have a designated nodal teacher to manage the operations of these hubs.
The main objective of creating this career hub is to connect with students, know about their career interests and encourage them to pursue a career in their desired field. The report further states that parents will also be invited to discuss the skills and interests of their children. This will also help parents to stay informed about their child’s career option.
Students often start worrying about their career options during their school days itself. To ease this process, the secondary education department has launched a plan to designate one classroom in every government school as a career hub. The department will also appoint nodal teachers to oversee the operation of this initiative. The career hub will include a question box and other resources to guide students. Apart from this, career fairs will also be organised at the school, district and state levels.
A team will reportedly be formed to manage the requirements of the hub, which will include the principal, who will be the chairperson of the team, a nodal teacher who will act as the secretary, two parents (one male and one female) of top-performing students of classes 9 and 11, and four student members.
Talking to Local 18, District School Inspector Puran Singh said that students will benefit greatly from the Career Hub. Its main objective is to make students aware of various career options according to their interest, provide guidance, connect them with employment opportunities and help them in career selection.
