Actress Kangana Ranaut has talked about her recent film Emergency not being released in Punjab. Kangana shared a video on Instagram on Monday, in which she also reacted to the protests taking place in Canada and Britain regarding her film. Kangana spoke on emergency not being released in Punjab!

The actor said, “You have given so much love and respect to our film. We don’t have words to express our gratitude for the love.” She continued, “But there is still a little pain in my heart. Punjab. It was said in the industry that my films performed best in Punjab. And today is a day when my film has not been released yet in Punjab (I still have pain in my heart. Punjab. It was said in the industry that my films perform the best in Punjab. And today, my film is ‘t even being allowed to release there).”

Kangana speaks about protests, attacks

She added, “Such attacks on people have also been seen in Canada or Britain. Few people have been hurt, few select people have been burnt, this fire has been set. Aur iss aag mein hum aur aap jal rahe hai (Some attacks are also taking place in Canada and Britain. A few people, some chosen ones, have started this fire. You and I are both burning in that fire).”

“Friends, what is my attachment to my film, my thoughts and the practice of my country which is being displayed in this film. You watch this film and decide for yourself whether this film adds to us or breaks it (My principles and my attachment towards my county are proven through this film. You watch the film and decide if it breaks us or brings us together,” she concluded.

“I won’t say anything more. Thank you,” Kangana said at the end of the video. Sharing the clip, she captioned it, “Extremely grateful for all the love for Emergency. Now in theatres.”

Protests in the country and abroad regarding emergency

Emergency was not screened in theaters in Punjab following statewide protests against the film by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee and Sikh organizations and several politicians demanding a ban. Apex Gurdwara body SGPC and several Sikh organizations demonstrated against the film outside theatres, multiplexes and malls across the state.

News agency ANI, citing Insight UK, a social movement of British Hindus and Indians, reported on Monday that a group of pro-Khalistan extremists stormed a cinema in London’s Harrow town and tried to stop the screening of Emergency.

The film, released on January 17, revolves around the period of emergency declared by Indira Gandhi for 21 months from 1975 to 1977, a controversial and transformative chapter in Indian political history. The film explores the political turmoil and social impacts of the Emergency, with Kangana playing the role of Indira Gandhi. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade and late Satish Kaushik.
