K-pop star Hyuna faints after losing 10 kg within a month: Check out the risks of weight loss diet plans peppermint

Date:

K-pop star Hyuna earlier collapsed on stage while performing at the Waterbomb Macau festival. Before this incident, he had told his fans that his weight had reduced rapidly.

“From turning 50 to changing the front seat, it’s very difficult. I’m still very old. How much have you eaten?” He posted showing his weight as less than 50 kg.

His extreme weight loss, of about 10 kg within a month, is believed to be the reason behind the collapse.

Body weight loss of 5% or more in 6–12 months is generally considered dangerous. Hyundai lost more than 16% of her body weight in 30 days.

One of her fans wrote, “Don’t be too obsessed with your weight. We love you in every way.”

“No, girl. We need you to be healthy and happy,” another commented.

Another posted: “You’re beautiful no matter what.”

From another came, “No matter your weight, I will love you. Be healthy and happy.”

“And we’re back to Hyuna embarrassing herself… Is everyone happy now? She finally managed to gain weight like she’s tried for years. And now she’s hit by thin fever again,” came another comment.

While it’s unclear what type of diet plan Hyuna followed, here are some common risks associated with excessive weight loss.

Risks of Ketogenic Diet

The ketogenic diet limits carbohydrate intake to less than 50 grams per day. This is much less than the recommended portion of 130 grams. Keto is popular for fast weight loss. People reportedly lose up to 4.5 kg of weight in two weeks.

However, the diet carries several risks. Deficiencies of magnesium, calcium, iron, phosphorus, and potassium may occur, especially with prolonged use. Following it for a long time can also lead to kidney stones and excessive calcium in the urine.

In the short term, people may experience nausea, vomiting, low energy, and fatigue.

Risks of Atkins Diet

The Atkins diet is similar to the ketogenic diet in that it restricts carbohydrates while increasing fat and protein. However, it differs in that it reintroduces carbohydrates in gradual stages. In the first two weeks, less than 20 grams of daily carbs are allowed, followed by 40-90 grams in later stages.

A study of women who followed the diet for eight weeks found deficiencies in thiamine, folic acid, vitamin C and zinc. These can cause problems like fatigue, neurological problems, wounds not healing properly, swollen gums and depression.

Risks of Paleolithic Diet

The Paleolithic diet eliminates processed foods and focuses on lean meats, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. It also limits dairy. In 12 weeks, followers can lose 4-6% of their starting weight.

However, the Paleolithic diet may have been deficient in calcium due to low dairy intake. This can cause bones to weaken over time. Individuals with kidney problems should avoid it as it contains high levels of potassium, which can cause complications.

Vegetarian and vegan diets

A vegetarian diet is often followed for ethical, cultural, religious or health reasons. However, it can lead to deficiencies in vitamin B12, calcium, zinc, iron, vitamin E and essential fatty acids.

These can cause fatigue, anemia, weak bones and slow growth in children. Vegans, who avoid all animal products, face similar nutritional risks.
