London, Sep 19 (IANS) Actor Joe Alwyn has opened up about his relationship with singer and former partner Taylor Swift after more than a year, saying they had mutually decided to keep some details of their relationship “private”.
The former couple split after six and a half years of dating. Swift is currently in a public relationship with American footballer Travis Kelce.
Alwyn said he is in a good place professionally and personally. According to an insider, the actor has moved on and is “dating and happy”.
“As everyone knows, we both have mutually decided to keep the personal details of our relationship private. It was never something that could be commodified and I see no reason to change that now.
“And, look, it was also about a year ago and I feel fortunate to be in a really good place in my life, professionally and personally. I feel really good,” Alwyn told The Sunday Times in an interview.
When asked if he has listened to Swift’s latest album “The Tortured Poets Department”, which is reportedly inspired by his time together, Alwyn said it was hard to accept being in a long and “fully committed” relationship.
“I hope everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years.
He said, “It’s very difficult to deal with. Thinking about what I was going to say, I would think and hope everyone could empathize. … It’s not a direct answer to your question, but I’m just thinking about what I want to talk about.”
The ‘Kinds of Kindness’ actor said he has accepted the “gap between what is known and what is said” about one’s private life in the media.
“What is unusual and unusual about this situation is that a week later it suddenly becomes public and the outside world starts expressing its opinion on it.
“So you have a very real thing suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: the tabloids, social media, the press, where it’s then analysed, speculated upon, stretched beyond recognition,” Alvin said.
