Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Hemant Soren is going to take oath as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand on November 26.

Quoting JMM sources, the report said that Hemant Soren will meet Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar at 4 pm on Sunday and formally stake claim to form the government.

Earlier in 2024, Hemant Soren had resigned from the post of Chief Minister and was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate on corruption charges related to mining leases. After spending several months in jail, he got bail from Jharkhand High Court.
“We have passed the test of democracy in Jharkhand,” Hemant Soren said about the election performance of the JMM-led alliance at a press conference on Saturday, November 23, the day the results were declared.
Hemant Soren contested from Barhait seat, where his party, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, secured a total of 95,612 votes against BJP candidate Gamliyal Hembrom. Barhet, considered a JMM stronghold, had also seen Soren’s victory in 2019, when he secured 25,740 votes over his BJP rival Simon Malto.

Hemant Soren’s party won 34 seats, Congress 16, RJD 4 and CPI-ML 2, paving the way for the India Bloc alliance to come to power for the second consecutive time.
The JMM alliance includes the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the Indian National Congress (Congress), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), and the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist). The NDA includes Bharatiya Janata Party, All Jharkhand Students Union (AJSU), Janata Dal (United) and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas).
