  • TDSAT banned TRAI’s fine order.
  • The next hearing will be held on 13 February.
  • BSNL did not file a petition against the fine.

New Delhi. It seems that the wishes of Jio, Airtel and VI have been fulfilled. That is why TDSAT has banned the order of TRAI’s fine on private companies. TDSAT i.e. Telecom Disputes Settlement and Appellate Tribunal have set a step on the order of TRAI, in which TRAI imposed a fine of Rs 141 crore on private telecom companies. In fact, TRAI had imposed this penalty on Indian private telecom companies for their deficiency in curbing spam calls. Now TDSAT has banned this order of TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India).

In fact, after the order of TRAI, telecom companies had filed a petition against its order and sought help from TDSAT to settle the case. The media report said that TDSAT has now asked TRAI not to take any punitive action against telecom companies till the next hearing. Please tell that now the next hearing is now to be held on 13 February.

BSNL did not appeal
It is worth noting that BSNL (Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited) has not filed a petition against TRAI’s fine, while all other telecom companies have done so. Despite this, there is no possibility of taking any action against BSNL, as the order of TDSAT has now come and applies to all telecom companies.

Why the ban imposed
Telecom companies have said that their digital consent acquisition (DCA) platform was still being implemented when TRAI was fined. On the one hand, TDSAT has stopped the fine between the arguments of TRAI on the one hand and the cleaning of telecom companies on the other side. It will be interesting to see who wins in the end. Telecom companies do not want to pay fine because they are already under stress of cash flow. Also, TRAI does not want to leave telecom companies non-confident and wants to pay for not being able to stop spam communication on their network.
