JEE Main 2025 Dates: For the academic session 2025-26, the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2025 will be conducted in two sessions in January and April, the National Testing Agency (NTA) announced on Monday, October 28.
The first session of the examination will be conducted from January 22 to January 31, 2025. Online application for JEE Main first session exam starts from today and will close at 9 pm on November 22, 2024. The last date for successful transaction of fee for this examination through credit card, debit card, net banking and UPI is 22nd November 2024 till 11.50 pm.
The exam city will be announced by the first week of January 2025. Admit cards for the examination will be issued three days before the actual date of examination.
JEE Main first session results will be declared by February 12, 2025.
JEE Mains for admission to undergraduate engineering courses will be conducted for 300 marks.
Recently, the agency announced that it has decided to do away with optional questions, a measure adopted four years ago in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Between 2021 and 2024, NTA provided 30 multiple choice questions in both engineering and architecture/planning papers.
The engineering paper had 90 questions – 20 each from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics in Section A and 10 each from the three subjects in Section B. Candidates had to attempt five questions in each of the three subjects in Section B.
Next year, JEE Mains Paper 1 will have 25 questions each from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.

JEE Main is a national level entrance examination for undergraduate admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs) and other technical institutes.
It is also the qualifying examination for JEE Advanced, which is conducted for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Meanwhile, NTA has issued a set of important instructions for the candidates which are as follows:
- All applications are to be filled in online mode only at jeemain.nta.ac.in.
- Only one application can be submitted by a candidate, and strict action will be taken against candidates filling more than one application form at a later stage also.
- Candidates must follow the instructions given in the Information Bulletin and on the NTA website, failing which may result in disqualification.
- Candidates should ensure that the e-mail address and mobile number given in the online application form belongs to them or their parents/guardians only as all information/communication will be sent by NTA through e-mail on the registered e-mail address or SMS.
