Johannesburg Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar met his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during a G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting held in Johannesburg on Friday. Jaishankar is on a two -day visit to South Africa to attend this meeting. Jaishankar shared the information of this meeting on his social media account ‘X’, in which he posted some pictures taken during the meeting with Wang Yi. He wrote, “During the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting in Johannesburg, there was an opportunity to meet Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi this morning.”

The meeting took place between India and China amidst the ongoing diplomatic talks on bilateral issues and regional challenges. In his speech in the G20 session ‘Discussion on Global Geophysical Status’ on Thursday, Jaishankar said that the G20 is an important symbol of the growing multiculture of the world. Describing the global geopolitical situation as difficult, he said, “Kovid epidemic, conflict conditions, financial pressure, food security and climatic concerns, all of which have the impact on the current global situation.”
