On losing weight
For this role, he lost about 26 kg in just five months. Recalling his old days in the interview, Jaideep said, “Physically this transformation of the body was quite challenging. I was not exercising for almost a year, my weight increased a lot after the lockdown. It was difficult and painful. Thanks to Prajwal Sir, my trainer, director Siddharth P Malhotra and all those people who convinced me that I can do it.”
In fact, maintaining the fitness level was not the only challenging aspect. Another challenging aspect was keeping the mindset right.
He said, “This man thinks very differently. He thinks everybody is insignificant in front of him. He has this confidence. He doesn’t get angry over small things. It was challenging because I had to convince myself to understand the thinking of that man and what he is doing… I had to believe in myself first and then make it believable for the audience. I was able to do that thanks to my director, my writer and my costume designer.”
Some time ago, Jaideep had shared a series of pictures from his shooting days as Maharaj on Instagram. He showed how he lost around 26 kg in just five months for the role. “109.7 kg to 83 kg in 5 months. This is the physical transformation for the role of Maharaj. Thank you Prajwal sir @prajwal7542 for believing in me,” Jaideep wrote in his post. The post included before and after pictures of Jaideep. In the picture taken five months ago, his belly looked big, but in the recent pictures, his upper body and arms look toned.
