ISRO’s new success: Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has once again proved its success and hard work to the whole world. He has designed lightweight nozzles for rocket engines. ISRO on Tuesday said it has successfully developed lightweight carbon-carbon (Si-Si) nozzle for rocket engines, a new initiative in rocket engine technology. ISRO has said that the payload capacity of the rocket will now be increased with the lighter nozzle.

ISRO has given this information by issuing a release. According to him, this innovation has been prepared by Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) located in Thiruvananthapuram. Through this, important parameters of rocket engines can be boosted. This includes thrust level, specific impulse and thrust to weight ratio. According to ISRO, these changes will increase the payload capacity of the rocket.

The space agency has said that advanced materials like carbon-carbon (Si-Si) composites have been used to make the nozzle divergent which provides exceptional properties. It said that by using processes such as carbonization of green composites, chemical vapor and high temperature treatment, it has designed a nozzle with low density, high specific strength and excellent stiffness, which can maintain mechanical properties even at elevated temperatures. Is capable of.

A key feature of the Si-Si nozzle is its special anti-oxidation coating of silicon carbide, which increases its operating range in oxidizing environments, the release said. According to ISRO, this innovation will not only reduce thermal induced stresses but also enhance corrosion resistance during rocket launching, thereby providing strength to withstand extended operating temperature ranges in adverse environments.

ISRO has said that the nozzle manufactured with this new technology can be used specifically for Workhorse Launcher, Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV). According to ISRO, PSLV’s fourth stage, PS4, is currently equipped with twin engines with nozzles made of columbium alloy. The space agency said that by replacing these nozzles made of metals with their equivalent Si-Si lightweight nozzles, the weight can be reduced by about 67 percent.
