The cold wave continued in Delhi on Monday morning and the minimum temperature was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius, which is the lowest temperature of this winter season. Weather officials said that a dense layer of fog was seen in many parts of the city. IMD has issued orange alert of cold wave today and tomorrow. After this, moderate fog is expected in Delhi till January 20.
The minimum temperature has remained around 3 to 4 degrees Celsius for the last three days. The minimum temperature was recorded at 3.5 degrees Celsius on January 14, 3.6 degrees Celsius on Saturday and 3.9 degrees Celsius on Friday.

According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) data, today’s minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded four degrees below the season’s average. The maximum temperature was recorded at 20.6 degrees Celsius.
Amid severe fog conditions, the Delhi airport has issued an advisory for passengers, requesting them to contact airlines before travelling. “Flight operations at Delhi airport may be affected due to dense fog. Passengers are requested to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information,” the airport authority said in a post on ‘X’.

According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, the sky in Delhi will be mainly clear in the morning and there will be dense to very dense fog. Apart from this, cold wave conditions will also continue. Delhi airport issued an advisory for passengers, requesting them to contact airlines before traveling amid severe fog conditions, which led to hours-long delay in many flights. “Flight operations at Delhi airport may be affected due to dense fog. Passengers are requested to contact the respective airlines for updated flight information,” the airport authority said in a social media post on Twitter. “Deeply regret any inconvenience caused,” it said.

An official statement from IndiGo Airlines on Sunday said, “Due to low visibility and dense fog conditions across North India, IndiGo flight operations have been affected on January 14, 2024. “This had a massive impact on our operations throughout the day.” Our staff kept passengers informed about all delays and cancellations at the airports and made every possible effort to facilitate the passengers. We regret the inconvenience caused to our passengers.”

Indian Railways said on Sunday that due to fog, 22 trains coming to Delhi are running late by one to six hours.

According to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data, Delhi’s overall air quality index (AQI) stood at 398 under the ‘very poor’ category at 6:00 am. The CAQM reimposed restrictions as per Phase III of the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) in the National Capital Region (NCR) on January 14. GRAP restrictions were previously lifted on 1 January. Air quality fell into the severe category yesterday, prompting the Delhi Transport Department to ban construction work and BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four vehicles in the city.
Furthermore, the Delhi Education Department ordered the reopening of schools in physical learning mode for all classes on January 15. However, schools have been directed to operate after 9 am and end by 5 pm.
