The Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IITD) is preparing to launch its first undergraduate (UG) program at its newly established Abu Dhabi campus. Starting in the 2024-25 academic year, the campus will offer two new undergraduate courses: B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering and B.Tech. in Energy Engineering, each with an initial enrollment of 30 students.
There will be two main methods for admission to these courses. Ten seats in each subject will be reserved for candidates who clear the JEE Advanced exam. The remaining 20 seats will be filled through the Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET), a new exam designed specifically for UAE students and introduced by IIT Delhi.
JEE Advanced-qualified applicants can apply for the Abu Dhabi campus through a dedicated portal linked to the IIT Delhi website after the JEE Advanced results are released. Applications for both JEE Advanced and CAET will be allotted seats through this separate platform, which will manage the process instead of using the JoSAA portal.
The only financial obligation for students enrolled through JEE Advanced will be the common IIT Delhi campus category-wise fees. All other costs will be covered. In addition, these students will be given a monthly stipend of AED 2000 in addition to free double occupancy hostel accommodation. Food will be provided at subsidized rates. Students will also be given an annual travel allowance of AED 4000. Candidates will be provided with comprehensive medical insurance and other welfare benefits.
The CAET exam, conducted by the JEE Office at IIT Delhi, will be held on June 23, 2024, at multiple locations around the UAE. Candidates residing in the UAE, including foreign students and citizens and expatriates, are eligible to take the exam. Registration for the program is available until June 10, 2024, at admissions.abudhabi.iitd.ac.in/application/caet-2024.
On July 15, 2023, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), IIT Delhi, and the Indian Ministry of Education, under which the IIT Delhi-Abu Dhabi campus will be established.
