New Delhi. If you are thinking of buying an electric vehicle (EV), now is the right time. Right now the discount season is going on in the electric vehicle (EV) market, be it electric cars or two-wheelers. Increasing stock, cheap components and government policies have made this possible. Discounts of up to Rs 3 lakh are being given on popular electric cars like Nexon EV and XUV400 EV.
Huge discounts are being seen in electric two-wheelers. For example, cash discounts of Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 are being given on Hero MotoCorp Vida V1 Pro and Vida V1 Plus respectively. Even on e-commerce platform Flipkart, discounts of Rs 2,500 to Rs 5,000 are available on EVs. Benefits ranging from Rs 3,000 to Rs 6,700 are available on Ather subscription. There is a discount of Rs 5,000 to Rs 7,000 on Ather 450. Almost all electric two-wheelers have discounts according to different models and variants.
Dealer and OEMs participation
The bulk of the discounts on EVs are being borne by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), while dealerships are also contributing. Exchange bonus can go up to Rs 15,000 and trade discount is Rs 3,000 to Rs 5,000. Industry experts believe that this discount is a result of the remaining plans for the festive season.

Experts say that the pace of EV sales has slowed down a bit globally, however, a new record of sales is expected this year. According to ICRA, the EV market share will reach 5.5 percent in FY25 from 2 percent in FY22 and could reach 25 percent in two-wheelers and 15 percent in passenger vehicles by 2030. A major reason for the discount is Corporate Average Fuel Efficiency (CAFE) norms, which force companies to make more fuel-efficient vehicles. This makes EVs more affordable.
Please note that this discount may vary across India. If you want to buy any vehicle offline then rest assured only after confirming the discount from your nearest dealer.
