To form the government in Bihar, any political party needs 122 (half) of the total 243 seats. The Grand Alliance has a total of 159 MLAs in Bihar.

What will happen if JD(U) withdraws?
Nitish Kumar’s JD(U), Bihar, which has 45 MLAs, can form the government in alliance with the BJP, which has 78 MLAs. The two parties will have a total of 123 MLAs, just one more than the halfway mark needed to form a government.
