Hyundai Car Recall: Vehicle manufacturer Hyundai has recalled hundreds of units of electric SUV Ioniq 5 due to a defect in the battery control unit. The company has taken this decision on matters related to the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU). A total of 1,744 units of the electric car are affected by the recall campaign.
The affected Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric cars were manufactured between July 21, 2022 and April 30, 2024. Hyundai India launched the Ioniq 5 in the country in January 2023 as a completely knocked down (CKD) unit. This means that all Hyundai Ioniq 5 electric cars sold in India are affected by the recall.
No charge will be taken
The South Korean automaker has said that a problem with the ICCU could result in the 12V battery in the affected cars getting discharged, which it has voluntarily recalled to inspect and fix the issue. The carmaker has said that the inspection and fix of the problem will be done at no cost to the customers. Hyundai Ioniq 5 EV owners can contact their dealership to check if their vehicle is part of the recall.
