Hrithik Roshan supports Yami Gautam’s ‘paid film hype trend’ ahead of Dhurandhar release

Date:

Actress Yami Gautam recently spoke about the growing “paid-hype” practice in Bollywood. On Thursday, she went to

Hrithik Roshan and Yami Gautam

Yami started by saying that she wanted to address this issue for a long time. He wrote, “This so-called trend of giving money under the guise of marketing a film to generate hype, or ‘they’ keep writing negative things even before the film’s release, feels like a form of extortion. Because this system is open to anyone – whether promoting a film or spreading negativity about another actor or project – it is a plague that will affect our industry in a big way.”

He added, “Unfortunately, anyone who thinks this is harmless or is just the new ‘normal’ is wrong. This monster of a trend will eventually bite everyone. If the truth comes out about the many things hidden under the banner of ‘success’ over the past five years, it will not be a pretty picture for many people.”

While audiences had mixed reactions to Yami’s long note, actor Hrithik Roshan, who worked with her in Kaabil, supported her in the comments section.

“More than anything, the golden thing that gets lost – and leaves them and us all poorer – is the journalist’s true voice, the chance for them to tell the creative forces behind a film what they felt, what they thought, what they appreciate and what they criticize. Only honest opinions have the potential to help us grow,” he wrote.

Adding further, “Their right to freedom has been unceremoniously taken away, and so have our chances for growth. Without freedom of expression, without truth to help us improve, what job satisfaction can they or any of us expect?”

While Yami was recently seen in the courtroom drama Haq, also starring Emraan Hashmi, the actor is all set for her husband Aditya Dhar’s directorial Dhurandhar, which is set to release tomorrow. Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh, Sara Arjun, Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt and R. Artists like Madhavan are included. This is not the first time that the film is in the headlines for negative reasons.
