Hero-owned Surge unveils ‘Batmobile’-like convertible EV S32. Description

Hero MotoCorp-owned startup Surge has unveiled the S32, an electric vehicle (EV) that transforms from a three-wheeler rickshaw into an e-scooter. The EV takes inspiration from the ‘Batmobile’ from Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy, and has been designed in such a way that it can be operated as a rickshaw for commercial needs, and can easily be converted into a high-performance Can be converted for use as a scooter. According to the Delhi-based manufacturer, owners can swap the S32 between a scooter and a rickshaw, doing so in just three minutes.

How to convert from e-rickshaw to e-scooter?

Changes are made by simply pressing a button. When the button is pressed, the front windshield rises vertically revealing the scooter inside; Additionally, the cabin turns rapidly, deploying a spring-loaded double-swing mechanism.

Inside the cabin of the EV, Hero MotoCorp has provided features like windscreen, lighting, optional weather-protective soft doors, LED headlights, indicators, speedometer, switchgear, digital instrumentation, etc.

The S32’s three-wheeler part comes with a power output of 13.4 bhp, while the two-wheeler part is at 4 bhp, with respective battery capacities of 11 kWh and 3.5 kWh. Meanwhile, the top speeds are 50 kmph and 60 kmph respectively.

Additionally, the rickshaw has a maximum load carrying capacity of 500 kg, making it ideal for various commercial operations.
