‘I fell in love with acting through dancing’

Haley has come a long way since she got a dental degree, learnt Kathak since childhood and then became a TV actor. “I have loved doing Kathak for years. Actually, I got interested in acting after studying classical dance and performance. I was lucky to get to work in films like Dum Kata (2007) and shows like Love U Zindagi (2011). Because as soon as I finished studying to be a dentist, I just knew that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” she says.

So when Helly got the chance to be a part of Undekhi, she grabbed the opportunity with both hands. The web series showcases the story of powerful people who think they can do anything and the oppressed who are tired of being treated without any respect. “I had already watched the first two seasons of the show, which is when I was roped in. It is such a popular franchise that is loved by so many; playing a character from a viewer was an interesting experience,” she adds.

‘The song challenged me as an actor’

In Andekhi, Helly plays a character that seems very ordinary at first glance. She is Papaji’s (Harsh Chhaya) caretaker, who discourages his evil deeds and builds relationships with other characters like Muskaan (Shivangi Singh). However, no one in the family knows that she is a spy sent to collect dirt on people who want to harm them.

Helly says she was attracted to playing Geet because of the complexity of her character, which gave her a great acting experience. “I had never played a character with so many layers before. The success of the show was a big reason, but it also helped that the role challenged me as an actor. Like the first two seasons, the show also had a gripping plot and storyline; I couldn’t turn it down,” she says.
