Born in a Punjabi Hindu family on 5 May 1951 in Delhi, Gulshan Kumar had climbed the ladder of struggle and hard work to reach the pinnacle. Gulshan Kumar, who used to set up a juice cart in the streets of Daryaganj in Delhi, could not concentrate on this work for long.

Gulshan Kumar produced more than 15 films, out of which he also directed a film ‘Bewafa Sanam’. His first produced film was ‘Lal Dupatta Malmal Ka’ in 1989, but T-Series got real popularity across the country from the film ‘Aashiqui’ (1990). Lakhs of cassettes of the songs of this film were sold overnight and the film was also a hit in the theatres. This film broke all records. He was as good a person as he was a great producer. He used to talk to everyone with great respect and decency.

Even after becoming such a big personality, Gulshan Kumar had no arrogance at all. It is said that Gulshan Kumar was an ardent devotee of Maa Durga and Lord Shankar. He used to spend a part of his earnings in religion and helping the needy. He had completed his journey with full hard work and honesty. In the year 1993, Gulshan Kumar had become a high paid tax payer. But he had become a thorn in the neck of some people. According to media reports, the underworld had its eyes on Gulshan Kumar’s money.

Abu Salem had made a plan to kill him
Underworld don Abu Salem had demanded Rs 5 lakh from Gulshan Kumar. Gulshan Kumar flatly refused this. Abu Salem did not like this. He made a plan to kill Gulshan Kumar. For this, Abu Salem sent a message to his shooter Raja. According to the report, like every day, on 12 August 1997, Gulshan Kumar went to visit Mahadev temple in Jeet Nagar, Mumbai. While returning from the temple, Gulshan Kumar was riddled with bullets by shooter Raja who was lying in wait. It is said that when shooter Raja killed Gulshan Kumar, he kept his phone on for about 15 minutes, so that his screams could reach the underworld don.
