Gumla: Many districts of Jharkhand are full of natural beauty. Gumla is also one of these districts. Here the district is situated amidst beautiful valleys. There are green trees, forests, mountains and rivers all around here. Besides, there are a large number of tourist places, religious places, historical heritage, dams etc. in the district. One of these important places is the Upper Shankh Reservoir located in Dumri block, which people know as Navgai Dam.
This dam is amidst high mountains, trees, plants and forests. There is a constant flow of tourists here throughout the year. But, especially in the months of December to January, tourists come from far and wide. There is also facility of hull and motor boating here. Fish farming is also done in the dam. The water of the dam is used for agricultural purposes in the surrounding villages. A large number of people come here for picnic.

Nagwai Dam is located at a distance of about 65 kilometers from the district headquarters. To go here you can get a bus from Gumla. Due to lack of adequate transport resources, you can easily travel and return by your personal vehicle.

From Gumla headquarters, one will have to cross Rampur bridge of Chainpur block and go towards north via Katkahi road. Then entering Akasi Panchayat of Dumri block, after covering a distance of about 2 km on the right from Navgai Basti, you will reach Navgai Dam.

Tourist Krishna Gop, who came to visit from Ranchi, said that he had heard a lot about Navgai Dam located in Gumla district. That’s why I have come here to visit, which is very beautiful. Besides, there is also Sira Sita Khakhra Lata, a sacred religious place of tribal brothers and sisters, near the dam. For whatever reason, people keep coming and going here. According to folklore, this Khakhara Lata also has a special belief, the wishes made here are fulfilled.
