There, girl students below 25 years of age have been offered 100,000 rubles (about Rs 81,000) in exchange for giving birth to a healthy child.
A Moscow Times report said the initiative aims to support the country’s population growth amid a historic decline in the birth rate. Many complications in the law
However, this scheme is not available to mothers who give birth to a stillborn child. Additionally, the policy does not clarify whether young mothers will receive additional support for child care or postpartum recovery.
Why did Russia take this step?

According to the report, only 599,600 children were born in the first half of 2024, which is the lowest number in 25 years. This figure is 16,000 less than the same period in 2023. The Kremlin has called the situation “catastrophic for the future of the nation.”
