Google is about to introduce a new NFC based Contact Sharing feature in Android. Users can easily share name, photo and contact details, and will also have customized options for privacy.

By bringing the phone number the number will be shared.

Google is working on a new Contact Sharing feature in its Android system, which will be similar to Apple’s Contact Poster and NameDrop features. With this feature, users will be able to share their contact’s details quickly and easily. Initial code references suggest that it will work on NFC (Near Field Communication) and will also have customization options for users.

Android and iOS often learn features from each other, and this time Google has learned from Apple’s Contact Poster. References like ‘Gesture Exchange,’ ‘Contact Exchange Activity,’ and ‘ndef’ have been found in the new Android code. This hints that Google is building an NFC based contact sharing system.

How does Apple Contact Poster work?
You can share contact information instantly by bringing two iPhones close to Apple’s Contact Poster feature. In this, name, photo and other details are sent immediately. Google’s new feature is going to offer this experience to Android users.

In Google’s new feature, users will be able to decide which information to share. This may include a profile photo, phone number or email. People who prefer privacy can choose the ‘Receive Only’ option to receive only the information of others without sharing their own information.

What will the receiver see?
The user to whom the information is sent will be able to see only what the sender allows. The interface will be simple and it will be easy to add the received information as a new contact. This will make the process safe and easy.

rollout time
This feature of Google is still in development and there is no fixed launch date. Based on the code, it is estimated that this will be introduced in a future Android update, when the system is fully prepared and tested.
