A war of words broke out in poll-bound Haryana on Saturday after a woman Congress leader was ‘molested’ on the stage during an event. The incident has sparked strong demands for action from within the party, while the BJP has taken a dig at the opposition party. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nayab Saini said that if any application is filed before his government, his government will take strict action.

“I spoke to him, he told me that someone was touching him and trying to remove him from the stage. We saw the same thing in the video and when I confirmed it with her, she told me that someone had misbehaved with her. If something like this happens to a woman today, it is highly condemnable. Action should be taken on this,” Shailaja told reporters on Saturday.

The development occurred when voters in Haryana cast their ballot on Saturday. 61% voting took place in the state till 5:00 pm.

However, the woman claimed that “mischievous elements” were making fake IDs in her name and making comments against her uncle and Congress candidate Jassi Petwar.

“Please do not use my name. I am completely with the Congress. It can be seen that I was standing right next to my uncle Jassi Petwar. I am standing with him and his I support.”

A video of the incident was first shared by the BJP on social media and it allegedly showed a woman farmer leader being molested during the event. The ruling party had fiercely targeted the Congress and tagged it as ‘anti-women’.

“They do not respect anyone, including women, the poor and Dalits. It is in their culture and DNA. If we get any application in this regard, we will take action. Our government will take strict action and will not spare anyone. ” CM Saini told ANI, women are an integral part of the society.
