Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Tuesday offered prayers at the ancient Hanuman temple in Delhi and said, “Hanuman ji is our ‘Sankat Mochan’.”
“For the last 2 years, AAP and Arvind Kejriwal have been attacked in every possible way. Attempts were made to break, suppress and silence us, but Hanuman ji has always protected AAP, Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi and its people…”
He said, “I sought blessings from Lord Hanuman, who has protected us in all crises, to continue working for the people of Delhi and bring Arvind Kejriwal back as chief minister in the elections.”
After his release from Tihar jail, Kejriwal had resigned as Delhi chief minister amid corruption allegations and said he would not hold office until the people gave him a “certificate of honesty” by voting for the AAP in the upcoming elections in February.
On Monday, Atishi took over as the chief minister and vowed to rule Delhi in Kejriwal’s absence, just like Bharat ruled Ayodhya by placing his elder brother Lord Ram’s sandals on his throne. She emphasised that Kejriwal’s chair in the chief minister’s office will remain vacant, so she chose to sit on another chair instead of using her predecessor’s seat.
