Junagadh: Junagadh in Gujarat is a city where ancient history and religious heritage are seen together. There are historical sites like 2200 years old Upkot Fort, ancient Buddhist caves and Ashoka’s inscriptions. The city of Junagadh of Gujarat is famous for its rich historical and religious heritage. The Jain Temple and Ambaji Temple located on the Girnar mountain have special significance for the devotees. Sakkarbagh zoo, Willingdon Dame and Datar mountains attract nature lovers.

Upkot Fort
The fort of Upkot is a witness to King Navalan and the heroic stories of King Khengar. It is a 2200 year old monument and is spread over 57 acres. After the construction of this fort, Junagadh became the capital of Saurashtra. Earlier, the capital of Saurashtra was considered to be Vanthali. Today millions of tourists visit this fort every year. This mountain is just 5 km from the city and the Girnar hill is a grand holy mountain, which is mentioned in the Vedas. This was considered a religious place during the Mohenjodaro period.

According to the Junagadh district administration website, these stairs were constructed in the 15th century. According to other sources, it was built during the reign of the Chudasama dynasty in the late 10th century or 11th century. Some sources say it was built in 319 BC and was re -discovered in 976 AD.

Junagadh has many Buddhist caves
Ashoka’s inscriptions are from 250 BC, where about 14 inscriptions of Ashoka are located on the route of Girnar mountain. These inscriptions mention greed and resistance against animal sacrifice and also the purity of thought, moralization of the principles of communalism, kindness and gratitude in the idea. Another major part of the Buddhist heritage of Junagadh is the inscription of Emperor Ashoka, which can be seen on the path leading to Girnar mountain. Ashoka renounced violence by converting into Buddhism famous.

Lord Buddha is associated with Junagadh. Junagadh has many Buddhist caves and their unique heritage is still preserved. The Buddhist caves of Junagadh are not years old but decades old. These include Khapra Kodia’s Buddhist Caves, Upkot’s Buddhist Caves, My Gadchi Buddhist Caves, Pancheshwari Buddhist Caves, Baba Pyare’s Caves.

Girnar Jain Temple
Girnar Jain Temple is located on Mount Girnar in Junagadh district of Gujarat state of India. On the mountain, there are temples of both Digambar and Shwetambar Jain sects. When people reach with faith after climbing 9,999 stairs, that place is the Dattatreya peak of Girnar. There is special significance to visit there and people from far and wide come to see Lord Dattatreya. Tulsishyam is very famous for its hot water pool. Even though this place is included in Gir Somnath district, it is 116 km from Junagadh.

One can visit this place from Girnar ropeway of Junagadh. This is a very unique place located between nature and people go here to enjoy between nature and waterfalls. For those who cannot reach here and it is not generally possible to reach here, the Girnar rope-way of Junagadh is very blessed. In this, people can reach the Ambaji temple and see mother Amba.

Junagadh’s Durbar Hall Museum is still a center of attraction for the people. Currently, the Darbar Hall Museum in Diwanchauk has been transferred to Sardarbagh in Junagadh and everything similar to Junagadh can be seen here.

Mahabat Tomb and Jama Masjid
Mahabat Tomb and Jama Masjid are the unique heritage of Junagadh. People also know it as Mini Taj Mahal. This place is very important for photography enthusiasts.

Datar mountain: heaven of nature lovers
The Datar mountain of Junagadh is also an excellent example of nature. Many trainees who take training to climb mountains go here every morning and if this place is traveled after monsoon, it is very pleasant.

Willingdon Dame: Self -like heaven in monsoon
Willingdon Dame is situated in the middle of nature and thousands of people come here every year to visit. People come here especially during the monsoon season because the dame is completely filled and nature blossoms in its entire beauty.

Junagadh’s Sakkarbagh is a great place to visit the zoo because many animals have been brought here from far and wide. Jungle safari has also been started here, which can be enjoyed here.
