From Ruslaan to Challengers: 4 movies to watch in theaters this weekend

This weekend, it looks like there’s something for everyone at the theaters. From hair-raising supernatural thrillers to heart-pounding action thrillers and steamy romances based on sports backdrops, the Tamil re-release of Vijay and Trisha-starrer Gilli is already running in theatres, check out What an offer. Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire (English)

It’s been 40 years since the iconic Ghostbusters first hit the silver screen. Bill Murray’s trademark wit, eccentric gadgets and comedic talent made it a favorite of most comedy lovers. Fast forward to today, Ghostbusters: The Frozen Empire has raised the stakes, adding to the paranormal adventure franchise. Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon and Finn Wolfhard headline the supernatural comedy. Dan Aykroyd’s return to the franchise adds a touch of nostalgia.

Challengers (English)

If you’ve seen the bombshell promotional material for Challengers, you know the potential this new film from Call Me By Your Name fame director Luca Guadagnino has. This time, he takes us into a world of ruthless ambition as opposed to desire. Rivals turned friends, Patrick (Josh O’Connor) and Art (Mike Feist), vie for the attention of tennis superstar Tashi (Zendaya) in this intense love triangle that will make you question the value of passion .

Ruslan (Hindi)

Directed by Karan Lalit Butani, Ruslaan tells the story of a youth beset by tragedy and inspired by patriotism. Raised by a caring ATS officer after losing his terrorist father, Ruslan joins RAW to serve the country. But his life takes a turn for the worse when he is framed for the murder of a US representative. Aayush Sharma headlines the film, which also stars Ms. Shreya Mishra, Jagapathi Babu and Vidya Malavade.

Ratnam (Tamil)

Director Hari’s Ratnam stars Vishal, Priya Bhavani Shankar and Gautham Vasudev Menon in lead roles. A henchman working under MLA Panner Selvam finds himself becoming a savior. A girl who goes to Vellore for an interview finds herself the target of miscreants. Ratnam rescues her and becomes her guardian, but how long can he protect her?
