Peru News: Former Peru’s former President Olanta Humala Money Laundering case has been sentenced to 15 years. At the same time, his wife Nadin Hardia was present during the court hearing. She was quoted by the media as per the Peru’s capital Lima Brazilian Embassy. These things came out that he sought refuge in the Brazilian embassy. The political stir has increased with the neighboring Embassy demanding shelter from the embassy.
According to the statement of Peru’s Foreign Ministry, the Brazilian embassy informed that Hardia had reached the embassy on Tuesday morning. It is not clear that he entered the embassy before or after the declaration of sentence. CNN said that Peru’s Foreign Ministry and Embassy have been contacted, as well as an attempt is being made to contact Hardia’s lawyer.
Illegal funding in election
The case against former President Olanta Humala is associated with alleged illegal funding in election campaigns during 2006 and 2011. Prosecutors claim that Humala’s Nationalist Party had received illegal money for their campaigns from Venezuela government and Brazil’s construction company Odbreak. Humala and his wife had earlier denied the allegations.
