Disadvantage and despair marked the first day of the Ramadan festival in Gaza. For Ghazan, the Muslim holy month of Ramadan was not the same festival he had. Many people have lost their family members and loved ones as the war between the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas and Israel continues since October 2023.
For Gaza residents, Ramadan began this year under a delicate ceasefire agreement, which stopped the war for more than 15 months, killing thousands of Palestinians and destroying the Gaza Strip.
Compared to the previous Ramadan, many people were relieved in the Trus – but there is also anxiety and fear about personal and collective disadvantages, raw wounds and many stains.
However, after hours of the end of the first phase of the Trus on Sunday, Israel blocked the entry of aid trucks in Gaza.
“Everything has changed,” Fatima al-Absi, a resident of Jabalia in Gaza, told the Associated Press on Saturday that her family visited the first day of Ramadan. “There is no husband, no house, no proper food and no proper life,” he said.
The 57 -year -old grandmother said, “I have lost a lot … life is difficult. God should give us patience and strength.”
Although Ramadan is still far from normal, some in the Gaza strip said that, in some ways, it seems better than last year.
Amal Abu Sariah in Gaza City said, “We cannot guess what will happen next.” “Yes, the country is destroyed and the situation is very bad, but realizing that shelling and killing … has stopped, feels that this year is better than the previous one.”
Due to war and displacement, the last Ramadan was “very bad” for the Palestinians, he said. In Gaza, 2024 Ramadan began with a ceasefire talks, then at a stagnation, the hunger deteriorated across the bandage and there was no end to the war.
For Muslims around the world, Ramadan is a time of fasting, prayer and reflection, and also has time to share with loved ones. But for several Palestinian withdrawal in Doha, it marks another year of separation from his family in Ramadan Gaza, told by Al Jazeera.
16-year-old Haya al-Barai said that she would mark the Muslim holy month away from home with her grandmother. According to Al Jazeera, Haya arrived in Qatar’s capital in December 2023, when her parents were killed in Israeli air strikes. Al-Barai was also injured in the attacks and is now a paraplygic.
“I do not want to celebrate Ramadan here. I used to enjoy Ramadan with my family. We used to play and play together. At that time my family was together, ”Haya was quoted saying this.
According to the report, more than 1,400 Palestinians distanced the Doha Mark Ramadan from Gaza, who used to crave to join their families again.
‘Temporary ceasefire during Ramadan’
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday, “Israel adopted the structure of US President Envoy Steve Witcoff for a temporary ceasefire during the period of Ramadan and Passover. The statement ended after the first phase of the ceasefire already agreed.
If agreed, the Trus will continue to fight till the end of the Ramadan fasting period around 31 March and the Jewish Passenger holiday around 20 April. It will be conditional on Trus Hamas, which would release half of the surviving and dead hostages in the first day, released at the conclusion with the remaining, if an agreement has reached a permanent summation.
Netanyahu’s office said in a post on X, “On the first day of the framework, half of the surviving and deceased hostages will be released and at its conclusion – if the agreement has reached a permanent ceasefire – the remaining residing and dead hostage will be released,” Netanyahu’s office said in a post on X.
However, the Israeli Prime Minister alleged that Hamas “has repeatedly violated the agreement”, while “Israel’s violation has not been found.”
“According to the agreement, Israel can return to fight after the 42nd day if it receives the notion that the dialogue has been ineffective,” the Prime Minister said.
Israel helps in Gaza
The six -week journey between Israel and Hamas ended on Sunday. Subsequently, Israel blocked the entry of aid trucks in Gaza, which has been halted for the last six weeks.
Israel on Sunday stopped the entry of all goods and supply into the Gaza Strip and warned of “additional results” if Hamas does not accept a new offer to expand a delicate ceasefire.
Hamas called Egypt and Katri mediators to intervene.
What did Hamas say
Hamas accused Israel of trying to derail the current ceasefire agreement and said that his decision to cut aid was “cheap forced recovery, a war crime and a clear attack”, which caught up after a conversation of over a year in January. The two sides reduced the ceasefire, saying that the ceasefire was over.
According to Reuters, Hamas said that it is originally committed to the ceasefire ceasefire, which was determined to go to the second phase with interactions aimed at the purpose of the permanent end of the war, and it has rejected the idea of a temporary expansion for the 42-day Trus.
Hamas, an Islamist group that is on the blacklist of terrorism in most parts of the West, stated that it will “return” from the demand of Phase 2.
Hamas officer Mahmud Mardvi said in a statement, “The only way to the regional stability and the return of prisoners is the complete implementation of the agreement, which begins with the second phase, including a permanent ceasefire, a complete return, reconstruction, and release of prisoners.” This is our firm Rukh. “
