VK Pandian, a BJD leader and close aide of Naveen Patnaik, said on Monday that Patnaik will once again take oath as the Chief Minister of Odisha on June 9.
This comes amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that June 4, the day the assembly election results will be declared, is the “end date” of the BJD government in Odisha.
Interestingly, Pandian made this claim when the first phase of voting is still pending for 28 out of 147 seats. The first phase of state assembly elections will be held on May 13.
“With the blessings of the people, CM Naveen Patnaik will take oath as CM for the sixth time on June 9. The swearing-in ceremony will take place on June 9 between 11.30 am and 1.30 pm.” Year, Quoting BJD leader VK Pandian.
Odisha Assembly elections, with voting on 21 Lok Sabha seats, will be held simultaneously in four phases: June 13, 20, 25 and June 1.
Naveen Patnaik is contesting from Hinjili assembly constituency in Ganjam district.
Addressing his first election rally in the state in Berhampur on May 6, Modi urged people to give the BJP a chance to make Odisha the number one state in the country.
Taking a dig at BJD president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, Modi said, “Odisha needs a chief minister who understands Odia language and culture.”
“BJP will form a double engine government after the ongoing elections here. The expiry date of the BJD government is June 4, 2024,” Modi was quoted as saying.
The Prime Minister said that BJD is sinking, Congress is a useless force and BJP is the only ray of hope for the people. He said that BJP has elevated a daughter from Odisha to the highest post in the country.
