New Delhi. Elon Musk on Saturday threatened to halt advertising revenue sharing for some creators until the use of bots for spammy likes, replies and direct messages (DMs) is investigated. He said that people are spamming on X platform to earn more money from advertising. In a post, the tech billionaire said that the purpose of creator payouts is to encourage high-quality content on X.

Musk said, ‘In some cases we are seeing the exact opposite, where people are spamming the system to make money from advertising, and that is not right.’ Musk said that advertising revenue sharing for such creators will be stopped.

X pays creators on a regular basis. But nowadays it is struggling to deal with the increase of spam and porn bots on its platform.

According to Musk, people running big bot operations are reducing the content quality to a great extent. The social media platform had started the effort to remove bots earlier this month.
