Education Minister Pradhan will explore more possibilities of mutual interest with Singapore

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said he will promote cooperation and mutual interests in the education sector with Singapore ministers during their upcoming meetings here.

The Prime Minister is in the city-state on the first leg of his seven-day two-nation visit to Singapore and Australia from October 20 to 26 to promote collaboration, partnership and synergy in areas of mutual interest in education.

“I am here to explore more possibilities of mutual interest in the field of education, such as PhD programs and future areas such as Artificial Intelligence and Biotechnology,” he told PTI after addressing around 500 members of the Indian diaspora at a lunch. Area.”

Singapore has a natural affinity with the Indian market and “in the future we will engage with the city-state in a big way,” the minister said.

During his two-day visit to Singapore, the Prime Minister will meet Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, Education Minister Chan Chun Sing and Foreign Minister Vivian Balakrishnan.

He will also visit the prestigious National University of Singapore as well as a local secondary school to discuss the scope of curriculum integration with AI in focus.

The Minister will meet distinguished representatives of academicians and alumni of IITs and IIMs and engage in discussions related to the education ecosystem of both the countries.

During his meeting with NRIs, Pradhan said, “India is going to lead the global economy in the next two decades because it is a knowledge society.”

He pointed out that global finance, trade and economy will revolve around knowledge for which India is a natural locus.

Citing the example of progress being made in India, Pradhan said the country is going to produce millions of tonnes of hydrogen as an alternative energy source for global energy markets.

“India will be a major exporter of hydrogen to global energy markets,” he said.

Pradhan also highlighted the strength of India as a leading digital economy driven by advanced digital payment systems.

He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, there is a decisive and stable government with policy certainty which reassures the global investor community.
