According to Rajendra Prakash Gupta, superintendent of Jiwaji Observatory, Ujjain, there are two solar eclipses and two lunar eclipses in a year. Rajendra Prakash said that only one of the astronomical events will be visible from India, PTI reported.
first eclipse of 2025
The first eclipse of the year will be the total lunar eclipse which will occur on March 14. Rajendra Prakash said, “It will not be visible in India as this astronomical event will occur during daytime in the country.” Specifically, one can see a glimpse of the eclipse from the Americas, Western Europe, Western Africa, and the North and South Atlantic Ocean.
Second eclipse of 2025
According to the Ujjain Observatory official, the partial solar eclipse will occur on March 29. Sky viewers in India will not be able to see this cosmic phenomenon as it will be visible over North America, Greenland, Iceland, North Atlantic Ocean. All of Europe and northwestern Russia.
Third eclipse of 2025
“Indian astronomy lovers can be excited that a total lunar eclipse between September 7 and 8 will be visible in the country. It will be visible over other countries in Asia as well as Europe, Antarctica, the Western Pacific Ocean, Australia and the Indian Ocean region,” PTI quoted Rajendra Prakash as saying.
The eclipse will begin at 8:58 pm on September 7 and reach its peak at 11:41 pm, as per the time and date. The lunar eclipse will end at around 2:25 am on September 8.
Fourth eclipse of 2025
India will not get a chance to see the last eclipse of 2025 which will be a partial solar eclipse and will occur between September 21 and 22. This partial solar eclipse will be visible in New Zealand, Eastern Melanesia, Southern Polynesia and Western Antarctica. , Rajendra Prakash said.
In addition to the four eclipses, the year will see three major meteor showers, three supermoons and a rare Mars opposition.
