Tokyo: A terrible earthquake has struck Japan. Japan was shaken by the strong tremors of the earthquake on Thursday. The intensity of this earthquake in Japan was measured at 7.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter of the earthquake was in Miyazaki in southern Japan. Officials have also issued a tsunami warning. The tremors were so strong that people were frightened. After the earthquake, people were seen running out of their houses.
The Japan Meteorological Agency said the quake had a magnitude of 7.1 and was epicentered at a depth of about 30 kilometers (18.6 miles) off the east coast of Japan’s southern main island of Kyushu. The agency issued a tsunami warning, predicting waves of up to 1 meter (3.3 feet) along the southern coast of Kyushu and the nearby island of Shikoku.
Operators of nuclear plants in Kyushu and Shikoku said they were checking to see if they had suffered any damage. Japan’s NHK public television said there were reports of broken windows at Miyazaki airport, near the epicenter.
Japan PMO has issued an advisory regarding the earthquake. Officials have been instructed to provide accurate information about the earthquake and tsunami to the people on time. An order has also been given to review the damage caused by the earthquake.
