The Central Board of Secondary Education has released a draft scheme to conduct CBSE 10th Board Examination 2026 twice a year.

Board Chairman Rahul Singh has informed that CBSE has issued a draft policy for conducting CBSE class 10 board examinations twice a year as per NEP 2020 recommendations. The draft policy is designed after detailed discussions.

The draft issued by the board continues the current examination plan, while the students’ wishes provide the opportunity to appear in other board examinations in many subjects. Its purpose is to provide students another opportunity to improve their performance.

According to a statement released by CBSE, the board currently provides 16 academic subjects, 23 skills subjects and 45 languages ​​in 9th and 10th grade. Students can offer any 02 languages ​​and 03 alternative subjects from the list of educational subjects. In addition, students can offer any skill theme as the 6th subject and 01 more language as the 7th theme. Accordingly, a student can offer a maximum of 7 subjects in class X. This plan and option of subjects will also be unchanged for 2026 board exams.

“The main departure from the current distribution of conducting the examinations will be that some subjects are proposed to conduct the examinations 2 to 3 times so that students can accommodate their choice of subjects. This will reduce the duration of the exams ”, reads the official press statement.

Students with special requirements will continue to take advantage of the same features as they are currently extended.
