Debbie’s body was found by Maureen’s fiancé in a car parked outside their house while he was out walking the dog. An ambulance was already standing there. Recalling that moment, Maureen says, ‘I immediately called my father, who was at home. I asked him to come there quickly. At that time we were not able to understand anything. The paramedics didn’t tell us anything, and we were confused.
When his father arrived, the seriousness of the situation became clear. Maureen says, ‘We followed the ambulance, which went to a nearby hospital. We didn’t say much during that three-minute journey. Now I think that perhaps both of us knew what truth we were about to face.
