The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh government to develop appropriate educational and medical facilities as well as other support systems for the holistic development of children with disabilities in all the districts of the state.
The order was passed by Justice Ajay Bhanot while disposing of a petition filed by a government school teacher from Etah, seeking transfer to Noida or Ghaziabad on humanitarian grounds, stating that her son, who is suffering from autism in Etah There were no necessary facilities. ,
“The facilities to deal with autistic children in Etah district are not very advanced. Therefore, the request for transfer should be allowed on humanitarian grounds as the facilities and treatment for such children in Noida and Ghaziabad are good,” the petitioner argued.
The court took note of the fact that medical facilities, educational avenues and other support systems are not very advanced in many districts of the state.
Basic’s counsel said, “The State Government is directed to make necessary efforts to ensure that appropriate educational and medical facilities and other support systems are developed and upgraded for the overall development of children suffering from disability and in all districts. Be made available in.” The Education Officer informed that the Basic Education Council is burdened with requests for transfer to Noida/Ghaziabad on medical grounds and it is impossible to accommodate all such requests.
The court said that a decision on the transfer petitioner can be taken after the completion of the academic session as per law and disposed of the writ petition.
