Anime releases have become a popular point of attraction for viewers around the world on any OTT platform. With many important title adaptations of widely acclaimed manga series finding a place on Netflix, especially in the ongoing season of major premieres one after another, Japanese animations last week garnered millions of views from May 13 to May 19, 2024.
According to the Global Top 10 TV (non-English) data revealed by Netflix last week, the streaming platform has become a go-to source for many otakus. The premiere of the fourth season of the much-awaited all-time favorite series, Demon Slayer, topped the non-English chart, garnering 5.4 million views.
Alongside Demon Slayer season 4, the Godzilla-inspired MonsterVerse-esque adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto’s manga, Kaiju No. 8, also made the top 10 list at No. 9. The show’s ongoing first season enjoyed a strong first week on the Netflix charts, garnering 800,000 views in a week.

Additionally, the second season of Dr. Stone, based on the manga series by Riichiro Inagaki and Boichi, ranked at number 10. This shonen anime also joined the ranking for the first time, after receiving 700,000 views between May 13-19.
Meanwhile, the second season of Blood of Zeus (though it is not an anime, but an American adult animated series) ranked 10th on the top 10 chart in the TV English category with 1.8 million viewers.
K-drama films starring Chun Woo Hee are making waves
Chun Woo Hee is one of the most talked-about K-drama actors who has recently made her presence felt in the media with her charming acting skills. She was already leading the K-content calendar with her weekend fantasy romance, The Atypical Family, which premiered on May 4, 2024. On top of that, another of her latest series, Netflix’s own – The 8 Show, introduced a dark comedy chapter two weeks later on May 17.
Since both shows continue to stream on the global platform, they have obviously garnered a loyal audience internationally. While The Atypical Family is promoted as airing weekly, all eight episodes of The 8 Shows dropped on the streamer simultaneously.

Last week, the show received 1.5 million views and reached the 8th spot. In contrast, The 8 Show received 1.7 million views since its premiere from May 17 to May 19 and reached the 7th spot in the non-English category on the Netflix Global Top 10 Chart.
