Delhi school timings will become normal from tomorrow

Date:

The Delhi government’s Directorate of Education on Monday said that in view of better weather conditions, all schools in the national capital will open on their normal timings from Tuesday, February 6.

“In view of the improving weather conditions in Delhi, all Govt. Aided and recognized private schools of Delhi will resume their full normal timings. 06.02.2024 (Tuesday),” Bhupesh Chaudhary, IAS, Director (Education), said in a release.

The Directorate of Education has asked the principals or heads of schools to timely inform all students, parents and staff through SMS, phone calls or other suitable means of communication so that they can report to school on time on Tuesday.

“HOS should timely inform all students, parents and staff through mass SMS facility, phone calls, SMC and other appropriate means of communication,” the release said.

Earlier on January 15, when schools reopened after winter vacation, the Delhi government had imposed timing restrictions in view of the cold weather. In view of the foggy season in the national capital, all schools were required to start after 9 am and end by 5 pm.

Separately, weather conditions in the national capital appear to have improved compared to previous weeks. However, many flights were delayed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport due to dense fog. The fog was less compared to other days but it affected many flights and trains.

Strong winds lashed Delhi this morning and the minimum temperature was recorded at 12.4 degrees Celsius, which is three degrees above the season’s average.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the day to be generally cloudy and the maximum temperature will be 22 degrees Celsius.

The weather office said the relative humidity at 8.30 am was 96 percent.

The national capital recorded 0.2 mm rainfall between 8.30 am on Sunday and 8.30 am on Monday.

The weather office said dense to very dense fog is likely to prevail over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi on February 5 and isolated areas in the morning on February 6.
