The Skoda Kylaq is the Czech carmaker’s answer to the densely populated Indian subcompact SUV market. The segment in question is filled with popular products starting from Nissan Magnite and Renault Kiger at one end of the market to Kia Sonet and Maruti Suzuki Brezza at the other end.
Interestingly, while Skoda products in India are generally more expensive than rivals, the Kialac takes a different approach. The Skoda Kylak beats almost all its competitors. With a starting price of The ex-showroom price of Skoda Kailak is only Rs 7.89 lakh. Mahindra XUV is Rs 10,000 more expensive than the 3XO making it one of the most affordable options in the segment with premium features.

Although the complete price list of Skoda Kylak has not been revealed yet, but the company has revealed the variants that will be offered with the sub-compact SUV. The Skoda Kailak will be offered in four different variants, Classic, Signature, Signature+ and Prestige, each bringing a different interior theme and upholstery. Here’s what the base Skoda Kylak Classic variant has to offer.
Skoda Kylak Classic: Features
The base variant of the Skoda Kylak, the Classic, is packed with a good list of features considering the price. On the outside, it gets 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers and body-color ORVMs. On the inside, the Kylak Classic lacks an infotainment system, but it does get manual air conditioning, rear AC vents, digital multi-information display (MID) with analogue dials and a front center armrest.
It gets power windows for all four doors, central locking, auto engine start-stop function, tilt-adjustable steering, powered wing mirrors, fabric seats and a 12V charging socket at the front.

In terms of safety, the platform underpinning the Kylak has received a five-star crash test rating from GNCAP along with the Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. The Kylaq is expected to maintain similar crash test results. As for safety features, the Skoda Kylak Classic gets six airbags, ISOFIX anchors, three-point seat belts, adjustable headrests for all passengers and traction control.
Skoda Kylak Classic: Engine
The Skoda Kylak will be powered by a 1.0-litre three-cylinder TSI petrol unit, which also powers the other Bharat 2.0 project cars – Skoda Kushaq and Slavia. However, unlike the Kushaq and Slavia, the Kylaq will not get the 1.5 liter TSI petrol engine.
The 1.0-litre petrol engine in the Kylaq produces 114 bhp of maximum power and 178 Nm of maximum torque. This engine will come with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission. However, the base Classic variant of the sub compact SUV will come only with a manual transmission.
