Himachal Pradesh: Congress candidate from Mandi constituency Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday took a dig at BJP candidate Kangana Ranaut, saying that she is giving good competition to comedian Kapil Sharma.
“I just asked her (Kangana Ranaut) tough questions but she always tries to hide behind her anti-women stance. Her entertainment time is now over in Himachal Pradesh,” Singh told media persons today.
“He made so many statements that people could not stop laughing after hearing them. She is giving good competition to comedian Kapil Sharma,” he said while suggesting him to return to Mumbai after the election results on June 4 and do films or comedy shows with Kangana Ranaut.
BJP leader Kangana Ranaut has been making headlines for her social media posts after announcing her candidature from Mandi for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Recently, his social media post describing the natural beauty of Pangi Valley sparked a political controversy.
She shared pictures of herself posing against the backdrop of some beautiful locations of Pangi Valley with the caption, “Pangi is located on the borders of Chamba, Kashmir and Spiti…”
“…It is a beautiful blend of Kashmir and Himachal landscape. One of the most gorgeous places I have ever seen. It can definitely be developed as one of the most sought-after tourist destinations,” the actor-turned-politician added.
The Himachal unit of Congress took a dig at Kangana Ranaut over the pictures, saying, “Kangana ji has actually come here for her holidays! She doesn’t know that Pangi is not near Kashmir but near Jammu. Her knowledge of ‘India in the year 2014’ This is clear from the statement ‘got independence after.’
“Now tell me! What is the use of wasting votes on someone who does not know the history-geography of Himachal? Madam has come here to celebrate a month’s vacation, she will go back to Mumbai after celebrating. What is the use of taking her words seriously?” it added.
Mandi parliamentary constituency holds symbolic importance for the Congress, as it is considered the stronghold of the Virbhadra family. Currently, the seat is held by the late leader’s widow, Pratibha Devi Singh. He won for Congress in the by-election held after the death of the then BJP MP Ram Swaroop Sharma.
Voting is to be held in Himachal Pradesh on June 1. The BJP, which won all four Lok Sabha seats in the state in the 2019 elections, is hoping to win again this time.
