‘Congress is our ally but…’: Sanjay Raut on ‘incompetent’ leaders and challenges of seat-sharing within the Indian faction. peppermint

Date:

Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections on November 20, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Friday said he will talk to Rahul Gandhi to finalize the seat sharing for the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra ahead of the Assembly elections. The leader said that there are many seats on which decisions are pending.

Speaking about the leaders whom he says are not capable of taking decisions, Sanjay Raut said, “They have to send the list to Delhi again and again. Now that time has passed. We want this decision to be taken as soon as possible.” He said, “Most of the leaders of Maharashtra are not capable of taking decisions.”

On Thursday, the three allies of Maha Vikas Aghadi: Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Nationalist Congress Party (SP) reached a consensus on 200 assembly seats out of the total 288 seats in Maharashtra. Congress is looking to contest 110-120 seats, while Shiv Sena (UBT) is eyeing 90-100 and NCP (SP) around 80 seats.

‘No big differences’

Sanjay Raut also said that “there are no major differences between the NCP and Shiv Sena, not even in the Congress,” yet there are some seats that all three allies want to claim. The leader said that Congress President Nana Patole is an ally in Maharashtra and the impasse over seat sharing will be resolved soon.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi, comprising the Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction), is against the grand alliance of the ruling Shinde-led Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and NCP. Is fighting.

Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024 are the first elections in the state after the split of Shiv Sena and NCP parties in June 2022 and July 2023 respectively.
