Complex PTSD is a mental condition where the person experiences PTSD symptoms along with other additional symptoms. Difficulty managing emotions, not being able to trust others, and sometimes feeling uncontrollable anger are some of the symptoms of C-PTSD. However, with a few changes, we can begin to control our emotions, address negative thought patterns, and understand how C-PTSD is controlling our reactions, responses, and actions. Self-care can be difficult in C-PTSD. However, with self-care routines we can successfully control our emotions. Therapist Linda Meredith shares some tips on essential self-care essentials in C-PTSD.

Stability: We need to make self-care routines a consistent thing in our daily lives. Whether it’s pampering ourselves or spending quiet time during the day to collect our thoughts or meditating, we need to be able to do it regularly.
boundaries: We need to set healthy boundaries to ensure that our physical, mental and emotional health remains safe and sound. We must also be able to explain to others the relevance of boundaries.
self pitty: We should stop ourselves from making harsh self-criticism. We must be empathetic; We must pay attention to the way we talk to ourselves and learn to be more understanding and kind.
support system: We need to find our community of supportive people, safe people, and people who can lift us up when we feel down. Support systems can help us take things easier and know that we are safe with people around us.
conscious:Deep breathing techniques, yoga, meditation, and other mindfulness techniques can help us stay grounded and become more self-aware.
self awareness: Knowing ourselves better, deeply understanding the origins of difficult emotions, and addressing difficult emotions can help us become more self-aware and handle our reactions in healthy ways.
