New Delhi. French car manufacturer Citroen is preparing to launch a new SUV in the Indian market soon. This could be the company’s third SUV after C5 Aircross and C3 Aircross. The report has revealed that this SUV can be launched in India under the name of Citroen Basalt in June this year. Currently the company is testing it in India and during this time some of its pictures have also been revealed.
The pictures revealed reveal that the Citroen Basalt will be a coupe design SUV. It has a long bonnet like a sedan at the front while at the rear the roof is in a sloping design which merges with the boot. It has been given large side wheel arches. It gets black highlights around the windows from A pillar to C pillar, black ORVMs, black bumper at the rear and wrap-around taillights. Since the test model is the base variant, it has been given steel wheels. The SUV is expected to come with a choice of 15-inch or 16-inch alloy wheel sets when launched.

Spy pictures of the Citroen Basalt SUV have revealed its design. Based on the Basalt Vision Concept, the SUV features LED projector headlights and DRLs at the front, body-coloured bumpers with fog lamps and a thin grille with the Citroën logo.

Talking about the features, the Basalt SUV has features like 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless smartphone connectivity, digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry, push-button start and ventilated seats. Citroen will also enhance the safety of the Basalt SUV, in which features like 6 airbags, ISOFIX points and seat belt reminder will be provided as standard in all variants.
Citroen has not yet given much information about the powertrain of the Basalt SUV. However, the French carmaker is expected to equip this SUV with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine, which is also available with the C3 Aircross SUV. The engine can be offered with a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmission units. This engine is capable of delivering power of 109 bhp and peak torque of 205 Nm.
