New Delhi: The attitude of Maldives, which became China’s stooge, has now started changing. The Mohammad Muizzu government is now not only urging Indians to ‘be a part’ of its tourism, but has now even said that it has not given permission to the Chinese ‘spy’ ship for research in its waters. Emphasizing that peace and security of the Indian Ocean is important for neighboring countries including India, Maldives Foreign Minister Musa Jamir on Thursday said his government has not allowed a Chinese ship for research purposes in Maldivian waters. Has given. This statement of the Foreign Minister of Maldives has come at a time when China’s marine research ship (which is being seen as a spy ship) Jiang Yang Hong 3 has again reached Maldives. This is the second time in the last two months that a Chinese spy ship has reached Maldives.
Maldivian Foreign Minister Musa Zameer, who is on a visit to India, said, ‘Peace and security of the Indian Ocean is important for India, Maldives, Sri Lanka and other countries in our neighbourhood. So, as I said earlier, we will continue to work together. Elaborating on the visit of the Chinese ship to Maldives, he said that our government issued individual rotation and friendly portable permits and received diplomatic clearance from the Chinese side, which is very common in Maldives.
‘No permission to research ships’
He further said, ‘So it has happened that we as a peaceful country welcome those ships which come for peaceful purposes. But they did not come for research in Maldives waters, we have not given permission to the Chinese ship for research in Maldives waters. Maldivian Foreign Minister Musa Zameer said that research vessels are not welcome in Maldivian waters.
Chinese ship left for the second time on April 27
In fact, amid the standoff with India, on April 27, the Chinese research ship Jiang Yang Hong 3 returned to the waters of Maldives. This is the second time after the formation of Muizzu’s government in Maldives, that a Chinese spy ship reached Maldives. Maldivian President Mohammed Muizzu is pro-China and this is the second visit by a Chinese spy ship within two months after the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) won the parliamentary elections. It is noteworthy that Defense Minister Ghassan Maumoon had told the Maldives Parliament last month that the Chinese ship would not conduct any research despite going inside and near the Maldivian waters. Relations between India and Maldives have become tense since President Muizzu took office in November.
