bpsc exam line: Chaos broke out at an examination center of Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) in Patna on Friday, with a group of people tearing question papers in the room and snatching them from other candidates taking the exam.

Around 300-400 candidates boycotted the 70th Integrated Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024 of BPSC held at Bapu Examination Center in Kumhrar, Patna, alleging that the question paper was leaked even before the commencement of the examination.
A CCTV footage shows some candidates running into the examination hall, where officials are talking to some candidates upset over the 40 to 45 minute delay. The candidates then pushed the officials aside and tore the question papers from the box, while others ran out with them and distributed them to those who had collected them. Some candidates also snatched question papers from other candidates.

The officials filed a police complaint, stating that they had promised to give extra time to the candidates due to the delay. “When the distribution of question papers was delayed by 40-45 minutes, despite the superintendent and invigilators explaining that extra time would be given for the delay, some candidates started creating ruckus.” ndtv Cited the police complaint lodged by the authorities.
Exam officials said candidates demanded to know why the sealed box of question papers in their room was not opened and claimed that the papers had been leaked. Due to the commotion, other students came into the room and started snatching and tearing booklets and attendance sheets.
“One of those candidates looted a packet of question papers from the (storage) trunk, broke the gate and went out with a group waving it in his hand. “Candidates went to several rooms and damaged attendance sheets and other forms,” the complaint said. The situation was eventually brought under control by the police and management.

The candidate further claimed that the seal of the question paper booklet was burst, one of the answer sheets of the candidates was found in the toilet and teachers had threatened students to remain silent about the irregularities. However, BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai denied any complaints of irregularities and said that the examination was conducted fairly at 912 centers across Bihar.
“However, at a center in Patna, some candidates snatched the question paper from the invigilators and walked out of the examination hall shouting that the paper had been leaked. Snatching question papers from invigilators and showing them to outsiders is tantamount to looting public property. “Police action will be initiated against these people who have acted as part of the conspiracy… We are examining the CCTV footage to identify them,” Parmar said.
Patna District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh reached the examination center on receiving information about the uproar. “Officials are in the process of registering an FIR against those who attempted to take law into their own hands inside and outside an examination center in Kumhrar,” he said.

The DM further said that there was a delay in the distribution of question papers as there were only 192 sets in the paper boxes against the seating arrangement for 272 students in each hall. This delay was objected to by the candidates, who snatched the question paper from the invigilators and alleged that the paper had been leaked.
The DM said that after this, around 300-400 students came out of their examination halls and boycotted the examination alleging that the paper was leaked. “The remaining candidates from other exam halls in the same center took the exam and came out of the hall only after 2 pm. The district administration will submit its report on the incident to BPSC for appropriate action.”
Bihar Police started investigation
Meanwhile, Bihar Police has started investigating the allegations made by students regarding the possible question paper leak. “We are gathering details and monitoring the situation closely,” said Manavjeet Singh Dhillon, deputy inspector general of the Economic Offenses Unit (EOU).
BPSC’s combined (preliminary) competitive examination to recruit candidates for Group A and B posts was held on Friday, in which a total of 5,674 candidates appeared for the exam.
Earlier, BPSC aspirants held a protest in Patna, protesting the alleged rule changes for the preliminary exam and requesting extension of the exam date. However, BPSC clarified that no changes have been made in the examination process.
