Bareilly: The craze for electric vehicles is gradually decreasing in the market, the main reason for which is the lack of reliability of these vehicles. Frequent incidents like fire and battery explosion have raised questions on the safety of electric vehicles. On one hand, governments talk about promoting these vehicles, but not much attention is being paid to their safety and quality. Even with cheaper and more popular electric vehicles like e-rickshaws, risks remain due to non-compliance of standard safety measures and the risk of overturning is also high.
After some recent incidents, strict action is being taken against electric scooter manufacturers. Now if companies do not follow the prescribed standards, they will be fined.
fine of one lakh rupees
During investigation by the team of Transport Officer Ramesh Prajapati on Nikitiya Road in Bareilly, an e-scooty traveling at a speed of more than 40 km per hour was caught. The investigation found that the manufacturer had violated the standards, due to which the Transport Department imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on the company.
What are the rules?
Let us tell you that the minimum age to drive any two-wheeler in India is 18 years. But the rules regarding electric bikes are slightly different. People between 16 to 18 years can also drive it. The condition is that the speed of the bike should not exceed 25 km/hour. Also, they should be electric two-wheelers with power less than 250W. If a person is caught driving such a scooter in violation of the standards, he may also have to pay a heavy fine.
Challan of Rs 42,550 on expiry of permit
In another case in Didipuram, during checking of a driving training vehicle, it was found that its fitness certificate, insurance, and permit had expired. Despite this, people were being given driving training by an organization called “Krishna Driving Training School”. Due to violation of rules, the vehicle was seized and a challan of Rs 42,550 was issued.
