Gorakhpur: Now you will have to be cautious if you enter Shaheed Ashfaqulla Khan Zoological Park, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh with a plastic bottle. Under the new rule that will come into effect from Tuesday, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 20 in addition to the ticket for bringing a plastic bottle. However, this fee is temporary, because this amount will be refunded to you when you return the bottle and the sticker given with it while leaving the zoo.
Fee imposed on plastic bottles
The zoo administration has taken this decision keeping in mind the safety of wildlife and the cleanliness of the premises. It is often seen that tourists leave plastic bottles in the premises after drinking water, which sometimes reach the wildlife enclosure. If wildlife accidentally consumes these bottles, they may even lose their lives. The zoo administration has taken this strict step to solve this serious problem.
Money will be refunded on depositing plastic bottles
In the coming time, this rule will not be limited to just plastic bottles in Gorakhpur Zoo. Zoo doctor Yogesh told that in future, plans are being made to implement this rule on other plastic packed items like chips and biscuits. This will help in keeping the zoo premises even more clean and safe.
Cloak room facility will be available
Under the new rules, if a person throws away the sticker and bottle, he will not get his money back. Instead, if another person brings and submits that bottle and sticker, he will be given Rs 20 back. This arrangement is an important step towards making the zoo plastic free.
Apart from this, the facility of clock room has also been started in the zoo. Now visitors can keep their bags or other belongings safe in the clock room at the rate of Rs 10 per four hours. This arrangement will also be implemented from Tuesday.
