Experts have praised the Education Budget 2025 for focusing significant focus on the expansion of education, research and skill development, which is leading India to innovation.

Education Budget 2025: In his 8th consecutive Union Budget 2025, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitarman underlined several important measures for the education sector. Highlights have an expansion of the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs), which were established in the last decade, and in addition to 10,000 new medical college seats in the coming year.
The Union Budget 2025 has allocated a total of Rs 1.28 lakh crore to the Ministry of Education. This includes an allocation of Rs 50,077.95 crore for higher education and Rs 78,572.10 crore for schooling, marking a strong commitment to improve both sectors.
Following these announcements, experts from India’s top educational institutions have shared their views on the impact of the budget on education, research and innovation.
IIT Madras Director, Prof. Kamakoti appreciated this year’s education budget and said that some great announcements have been made for Indian technology institutes. “The expansion of the third generation IIT is important. This is a big step. Every field has to grow. We have to provide quality education in all fields with the IIT brand. These IITs will benefit greatly from the announcement of the new budget, “he said.
He further said that India needs entrepreneurs, and innovation needs to be nourished. He said, “The establishment of 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs is a major step, and is going to be a great game changer for our country,” he also mentioned that PMR was an important part of the budget. “There is a zodiac. Director of IIM Sambalpur Prof.. Mahadeo Jaiswal called the Union Budget 2025 a visionary step, which focuses strongly on higher education, women empowerment and entrepreneurship.
He said, “Budget 2025 is a visionary to increase India’s higher education, women empowerment, and entrepreneurship as an inclusive, justified, innovative economy as a column.” Five National Skilling Centers, which will integrate new techniques in education and training.

Director of IIM Raipur Prof.. Ram Kumar Kakani described the budget 2025 as a twist for India’s entrepreneurship and skill-building environment.
He said, “Budget 2025 marked a significant moment for India’s entrepreneurship and skilling ecosystem, which establishes the stage for ‘Wikit India 2047’.” ,
Kakani highlighted a new initiative to support Rs 10,000 crore funds and 5 lakh SC/ST women entrepreneurs for startups. These initiatives with higher education funding and policies to attract global talents will lay a solid basis for the workforce ready for the future.
At the British Council, the Director of Country, Alison Barrett MBE praised the government’s attention on education and skill development, especially with the creation of five national centers of excellence for skill-building.
“The Union Budget 2025-26 confirms the Indian government’s commitment to education and skill development, which lays a strong foundation for the youth and future workforce of the country,” he said.
Barrett appreciated Rs 500 crore for the expansion of the center of excellence in education and the IIT infrastructure, describing them as an important step for improving India’s technical and digital capabilities.
She further highlighted the bharatiya bhasha pushtak scheme, noting, “We commen the bharatiya bhasha pushtak scheme that will provide digital access to Indian language books.”
The decision to establish a center of excellence in artificial intelligence for education reflects an further thinking attitude for education and economic development, aims to create a workforce for AI-Pailed future challenges and opportunities, Aarti Dawar , Says Deputy CEO, Shiva Nadar School. “As automation and AI transformation industries, traditional skills are becoming obsolete, making continuous apasming,” he said.
