Brezza’s dream of becoming number 1 was shattered, this compact SUV sold well

WagonR once again captured the position of best selling car in January 2024. In December 2023, Nexon compact SUV was the best selling car in the country. This time Tata Nexon has been the best selling SUV. If we talk about the top-10 best selling cars, then in this list, while WagonR remained at number-1 with sales of 16,567 units, Dezire was the second best selling car with sales of 15,965 units.

Maruti Swift took the third position with sales of 15,311 units, while Tata Nexon stood at the fourth position with sales of 14,916 units. Tata Punch also gave a better performance in January and stood at fifth position by achieving sales of 14,383 units. A total of 13,393 units of Maruti Brezza were sold and with this this compact SUV secured the sixth position in the sales list.

Creta and Scorpio lagged behind
Maruti Baleno, which was once on top in sales, was bought by 12,961 people in January 2024. Baleno sold 10,669 units in December 2023. Whereas, Ertiga 7-seater managed to attract 12,857 customers. If we talk about Creta, it stood last in the sales list of top-10 cars with sales of 11,814 units. Scorpio sales were marginally better than 11,355 sold in December.

Tata Nexon becomes number-1
Tata Nexon has been on top in terms of sales for the last few months. Sales of 15,284 units in December 2023 and 14,916 units in January 2024 point towards Nexon’s strong consumer base. People are liking the new model of Tata Nexon launched in December.

This car has been completely updated from inside to outside. The company has given it a completely new front facia, which has made its look more powerful than before. It has a newly designed split LED headlight setup, redesigned front and back bumper and a new LED tail light setup. The company has completely updated not only the exterior design of the car but also the interior. Inside the car, a new 2-spoke steering wheel, new dashboard layout and new interior color are now available.

Both petrol and diesel engine options are available in Tata Nexon. It has the first 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine which generates 120 bhp power and 170 Nm torque. The other one is 1.5-litre diesel engine which gives output of 115 bhp power and 260 Nm torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual, 6-speed AMT and a new 7-speed dual clutch transmission (DCT). The option of 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT is given with the diesel unit.

Tata Nexon facelift price starts at Rs 8.10 lakh (ex-showroom). At the same time, its price for the top variant goes up to Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The company is selling it in four variants Smart, Pure, Creative and Fearless with a total of 7 color options. Nexon competes directly with Honda Elevate, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue and Maruti Brezza.
